Marquez arranged the pieces for all 24 major and minor keys. “To provide a wealth of colours,” he says, “I set myself the challenge of never repeating any key … It was my way of enriching folk practice, and also a reflection of my classical training in this encounter with traditional music.” The results are mesmerizing, avoiding expectations of what Argentine music should be. By turns playful and meditative, it’s a constant treat for the ears and soul.
